What do you like best about doing volunteer work for the club?
Working as a Reston Runners volunteer is an easy and satisfying way of associating with the diverse, talented, and stimulating membership of the Club.
Please tell us an unusual fact about yourself or talent that you have that few people know about.
[Editor's note: Will asked us to choose one of the answers below, but we thought they were both very interesting.]
1. I amuse myself by playing trombone (something I've done since I was 11 years old); I serve as the principal trombone in the Loudoun Symphony.
2. While in high school, I was an apprentice to my grandfather, learning his clock-making/repairing craft (gave it up to attend MIT).
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
At various times, in progression: a clergy-man (Baptist); a church pipe-organist; a clockmaker; and, finally (in high school), an engineer or scientist.
We Need You!
Want to pitch in and help out the club, too? Reston Runners offers a variety of programs and activities you can volunteer for:
Course Marking
Gungadins (Water support)
Finish Line Services
Youth in Motion program
Women's Training Program
Women's Distance Festival
Stats and Chats reporter
In addition, we can always use your help for the Fall Into Winter race, the annual summer picnic and pool party, the annual dinner meeting, W&OD trail cleanup days, crewing and other tasks for the JFK50 race, and the periodic blood drives the club sponsors.
