Around 16 months ago my friend and running companion Marge suggested we "try and run"as much as we could of a local 50K race. At the time my longest run so far had been in the 15 mile range. Some may not have thought it the brightest of ideas, but I went ahead and ran it, and loved the experience. Not long after, talk turned to 50 milers. With now many long runs and several marathons behind me, and the JFK a few days in the past, my ideas of what are "bright ideas" have changed. (Hopefully for the better)
With a 5 am start, wonderful support from Reston Runners and my crew member Will, I made it thru my first 50 mile race with a minimum of pain, and a whole lot of fun!!!
I'm still recovering, stairs are a challenge, but my mind now is on what is next.
Thank you friends.
Thank you Reston Runners for opening up your arms to an "out of town"member.
Thank you Will.
You are all very special and have been an integral part of a major turning point in my life.
Susan
