This portion of the Reston Runner website provides information and coordinating instructions for our annual participation in the JFK 50 mile ultramarathon.  The JFK 50 is conducted by the Cumberland Valley Athletic Club (CVAC) and is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The race starts in Boonsboro, MD and finishes in Williamsport, MD.  Applications are posted to the CVAC website NOW. The race fills quickly (2008 it closed out by mid-July.  If you are participating on one of our teams, get those apps and checks to us ASAP!!!

The growing participation and success for many years of Reston Runner Teams in the annual JFK 50 miler means we need to make a few changes for 2009.  This year, we will of course welcome all of our LOCAL (you know who you are, you run with us on weekends, etc) members to join us on a Reston Runner Team.   Also, we welcome all runners who have participated with us at previous JFK 50 milers. You are grandfathered in.  For out of town runners, we will continue to offer our mentoring advice by email.

Thinking about running the JFK 50 miler as your first ultra?  We have a pool of experienced ultra-runners that can offer advice and encouragement. These veterans are available as mentors through an e-mentoring system provided by the Reston Runners each year.  Contact  RR JFK Coordinators for more info.
