JFK50 AT Familiarization Run, Sept 4, 2010
JFK50 AT Familiarization Run, Sept 4, 2010
| Programs - JFK50 Ultramarathon |
Overview
We will be having our Appalachian Trail Familiarization Run on Saturday, September 4th. This is a loosely coordinated event in which we meet at the Old Wiehle Commuter Lot (Reston, VA: Intersection of Wiehle and Sunset Hills Roads) at 7am and carpool out to Weverton. We'll leave 1/2 the cars there, and cram ourselves into the other 1/2 of the cars to drive to the trail head at Alt Route 40 near South Mountain Inn in Boonsboro.
Our paces vary pretty widely, and as much as we always try to coordinate linking like-paced runners by car, we inevitably experience the unexpected. As such, we'd like you to count on being out there a bit longer than your usual 14 mile run might take. Bring a picnic lunch for sure, and plenty of supplies for your run and change of clothes for afterward. We'll have one aid station at the mid point, but bring water to carry with you and to guzzle at the end.
If you haven't already done so, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you think you'll be joining us so we have a vague idea of how many people we'll see in the parking lot on the 4th!
