This is it! Sadly, it is our last session on the track and we’ll end it with a FUN set of time trials!
So, remember to cheer on all our wonderful participants to do their best!

Again, depending on the age group, participants will be running 50 meters to 800 meters and timed by electronic clock. All of our runners will receive a cool rainbow ribbon with their event and their time. Please remember, parents, that Youth In Motion is a NON-COMPETITIVE program – our main goal is to encourage kids to have fun while participating in running activities; so, encourage your child to do their best and have a whole lot of fun, too!
Since stretching tomorrow night will be conducted within each age group, there may be an opportunity to run a second time if your coaches have enough time (and if the weather cooperates!) – just let your age group leader know if your child would like to run a second time.
Parents: time trials can be a lot of work for our coaches and they would be very appreciative of any assistance – please let your age group leader know if you would like to help! Thanks!
Note: again, we would really appreciate it if the track is kept clear for our enthusiastic runners for their time trials. Thank you for your cooperation!

- Before 6:30pm: Make your nametag at the nametag table and place the nametag on the front of your child’s shirt. Then walk or run a warm up lap around the track.
- 6:30pm: Break up into age groups for stretching, activities, and do your best in your final time trials! Good luck!
- 7:30pm: Ice pops!

Just a reminder: we hold the session rain or shine. However, we will not meet if there is lightning in the area or if the temperature is over 100 degrees. There is a slight CHANCE of passing thunderstorms tomorrow evening -- If lightning occurs in the middle of the session, we will be forced to cancel for that evening. When the session has to be canceled due to lightning, everyone will have to leave the area immediately!

Don’t forget! Our last session will be a BIG pizza party to celebrate our season. So, join us at Lake Fairfax on August 10th!

We usually focus on the kids here at YIM; but, this time we’ll focus on our parents. To encourage running in our children/teens, try to heed the following advice:
- Be a good role model
- Make running fun
- Run with them
- Let them set their own pace
- Don't overtrain or overrace them
