Tomorrow evening's weather forecast is calling for scattered thunderstorms. We're keeping our fingers crossed that our session will not be interrupted/canceled; however, here is a review of our inclement weather policy:
- Parents, of course, make their own judgment call when the weather is questionable; however, IF THERE IS LIGHTNING SPOTTED, we will signal cancellation using our sport horn and bring everyone in for their own safety. More often than not, we are able to hold at least a partial session. When a session is canceled due to lightning, everyone must leave the area immediately (at least take shelter in the nearby SLHS building cover). We will not update the website unless it is clear early on that conditions make it impossible to hold a session; however, we will send out an email notification as soon as possible to notify participants that a session has been canceled.

Since our 5-6 year age group has an extremely large number of participants, they will conduct their time trials this Tuesday to ensure they have enough track time.
- This is just a gauge for the children to find out how fast they can run 200m on the track. They will be timed using stopwatches. It is not a competitive event. Please encourage them to do their best effort. Please encourage them to cheer on their peers! Each participant will receive a ribbon for their effort at the end of the time trials.
- Do not worry if you are unable to make this time trial session – we will hold another time trial on Week 9 (August 2).
- Amy & Karen (5-6yr age group leaders) will need parent volunteers for timing - please see them if you are able to assist. Thank you! (If it is raining heavily tomorrow evening, the age group leaders may decide to use the session as a dry run for the actual time trials.)
Training Locations for Age Groups this week
- 3-4yrs (Anu Girish - Age Group Leader):
- Soccer fields closest to the path and tennis courts (same location as last week)
- 5-6yrs (Amy Bartram & Karen Viani - Age Group Leaders):
- Time Trials: Track area closest to the entrance including the long jump pit.
- 7-8yrs (Jon Wesoky - Age Group Leader):
- Soccer fields beyond the 3-4 age group
- 9-10yrs & 11-14yrs (Jeff Wolfe & Leslie Minnix-Wolfe - Age Group Leaders):
- Track back corner to start (same location as last week)**
**When a group goes running on the paths, they are accompanied by at least two coaches. One of the coaches will have a walkie-talkie to communicate back to the YIM tables/directors in case of emergency.

Please try to remember that YIM is entirely volunteer-run and completely non-profit. All the coaches and directors are taking personal time out of their busy lives to provide the necessary support for this wonderful program for our children - it does indeed take a great deal of time and planning (behind the scenes and during the sessions). Therefore, please be courteous when speaking to directors, age group leaders, and coaches when providing helpful suggestions as we are always looking for ways to improve our program.
YIM ShirtsIf you did not pick up your child's technical shirt (our program gift) last Tuesday, please do not worry - we will have the shirts again tomorrow evening (also, you may pick up the shirts at any time during the entire program duration).
HAVE FUN!
YIM is program designed to give our youth a chance to run in a non-competitive atmosphere for fun, learning, and good health!
