Women's Distance Festival Wrap - Up and Thank You.

Well - the Women's Distance Festival is over for another year. No more announcments, no more begging for volunteers, no more crises to handle. At least until we start planning for the 2012 race next week.

This year's field was bigger than ever. Nearly 500 people registered and over 420 women finished the 5K run and walk in perfect weather. We'd like to thank all of those who helped make this year's Womens' Distance Festival a huge success. Using a three part system - we judge the success of the annual Festival by evaluating the number of women registered, (2) the number of smiles observed on the finisher's faces, and (3) the number of complaints we receive about Chris Dettmar.

This year we had the largest field of women ever and the smiles were HUGE at the finish line. The number of complaints about Chris Dettmar were at an all time low - I think in the two digits this year. (Does anyone know if he was actually there on Saturday?) In any event - taking all three into account, the race was a huge success and we can't do it without all of the fabulous support we receive from the Club and community. So - thanks to all of you. We really appreciate it.

And congratulations to the top three women finishers of the 2011 Womens' Distance Festival - Meghan Ridgley, Deedee Loughran and Jessica Storm.
