Reston Runners Volunteer of the Month
We are proud to recognize Ann Belkov

Read about Ann's contributions to the club and learn some fun facts about the woman who has become known as the Food Maven.
Please list the Reston Runners programs and/or events that you volunteer for.
I help with the Reston Runners Annual Dinner, Reston Triathlon, Women’s Distance Festival, Fall Into Winter Race, and Jerry and Ann’s Newbridge Court breakfast (I am co-host). In addition, I provide donations and solicit resources (including finding and procuring race premiums at discounted prices) for Reston Runners events.
I've been the Food Chairperson and Donation Chairperson for the Fall Into Winter Race and the Women's Distance Festival for many years. According to Anna, I guess I have become the Food Maven; I help get food donations and food door prizes and set up food tables at the various events.
What do you like best about doing volunteer work for the club?
I value the camaraderie and the wonderful new friends I've made, working with folks who have an intense commitment to the RR mission, and the technical knowledge I have learned about running and racing. Most of all, I love being able to share my RR experiences with my life partner Jerry Lewis.
Please tell us an unusual fact about yourself or talent that you have that few people know about.
Having been the Superintendent/Director of three National Parks, including the Statue of Liberty National Monument and the Ellis Island Museum, I learned to be a networker and scrounger for donations. I can't sing, can't play an instrument, and certainly can’t run, but I can find material donations and cash. I guess that is my talent. Oh, I forgot--being a good friend is another talent.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I didn't have a goal or desire to become anything in particular when I grew up. I just wanted to survive.
We Need You!
Want to pitch in and help out the club, too? Reston Runners offers a variety of programs and activities you can volunteer for:
Course Marking
Gungadins (Water support)
Finish Line Services
Youth in Motion program
Women's Training Program
Women's Distance Festival
Stats and Chats reporter
In addition, we can always use your help for the annual summer picnic and pool party, the annual dinner meeting, W&OD trail cleanup days, crewing and other tasks for the JFK50 race, and the periodic blood drives the club sponsors.
