How did you learn about Reston Runners?
(A) The internet.
Do you prefer to walk or run for exercise?
(A) Run.
What's a typical week's exercise regimen for you (how often, how far)?
(A) 35-40 miles, divided among four days or so.
What's a comfortable speed for you?
(A) I don't wear a watch. So, you tell me!
Do you do any cross-training (e.g., biking, swimming)? Any adventure racing?
(A) Occasionally I will bike or hike, but not too often. My cross-training is playing with my dogs and walking around campus.
For how long have you been participating in Reston Runner events?
(A) I joined mid-January 2008.
How do you like Reston Runners so far? Any suggestions for improvements?
(A) I LOVE Reston Runners! You guys are fun!
Do you like to compete? What events? Are you now training for any big event?
(A) I have never competed. In fact, the thought never crossed my mind until I met all of you. I hope to compete in something by the Fall/Winter thought - now that I have people coercing me to do so : )
Are there any records or accomplishments you're especially proud of as a runner or walker?
(A) Nope. Just happy to be doing it!
Have you ever run any ultras (50K or more)? Any interest in doing so?
(A) Humphhh ... that question is difficult, considering I am an amateur, and that I have never competed in any running event. I can not give a definitive yes or no.
Are you likely to participate in Reston Runner events on Saturdays, Sundays, both, or neither?
(A) Definitely Sundays, and some Saturdays. Saturdays are dependent on how strong my desire to sleep in is.
Is there anything you'd like to share about your non-running/non-walking life?
(A) Peanut butter is the cure to every ailment! Trust me!

How did you learn about Reston Runners?
(A) I've seen the group mentioned a few times via the TriRats message board.
Do you prefer to walk or run for exercise?
(A) Run mainly.
What's a typical week's exercise regimen for you (how often, how far)?
(A) Varies, but typically about 5x a week. Depending on the work out my distance range from 3miles to 10miles.
What's a comfortable speed for you?
(A) Prob right now about a 7-8min pace, but dependent on the distance.
Do you do any cross-training (e.g., biking, swimming)? Any adventure racing?
(A) I do a fair amount of swimming. And once the weather gets warmer, I'll be biking a lot more for a few triathlons that I have coming up. And 'no' to the Adventure racing, BUT if there's a chance to do some, I'm def game to give it a try.
For how long have you been participating in Reston Runner events?
(A) I don't think I've done any Reston Runners events honestly. Most races that I do are out of state or sponsored by other organizations.
How do you like Reston Runners so far? Any suggestions for improvements?
(A) No ideas as of yet, but I expect great things, since that's all I hear. Looking forward to meeting some like-minded athletes!
Do you like to compete? What events? Are you now training for any big event?
(A) I love to compete, who doesn't? I guess its just my personality, but I'll race against anyone in anything just for the sake of argument. I'm not super competitive but I like to know where I stand and how I can become better, which is usually only found through competition.
Right now I'm training for the Bataan Memorial Marathon in White Sands, NM, on 30 March 2008. Doing the Heavy Division race, which is the race with a 30lb ruck sack.
Are there any records or accomplishments you're especially proud of as a runner or walker?
(A) I'm sure I have some, but none are coming to mind right now.
Have you ever run any ultras (50K or more)? Any interest in doing so?
(A) No, not yet, but would love to do some. I would love to do Barkley and I'm hoping that when the Endurance Challenge comes back to town I'll be able to do the 50miler.
Are you likely to participate in Reston Runner events on Saturdays, Sundays, both, or neither?
(A) Saturdays and Sundays right now. Once the weather gets warmer though, more than likely it'll just be Sundays, as I'll be biking on Saturday to avoid the crowds on W&OD.
I'm also looking for anyone who wants to run during the week, morning or evenings. I guess more or less an accountability-buddy so sound trite, lol. This cold weather has been zapping my motivation and driving me to the treadmill way too much.
Is there anything you'd like to share about your non-running/non-walking life?
(A)

(A) I like to set my own goals for finishing times, but I have never broken any race records.

Do you like to compete? What events? Are you now training for any big event?
(A) I like to compete against myself...but if i ever start running track again, i love team competition....i use to run 1500 and 3000 in track...now i am purely in marathon training mode, working on number 11...yahooo :)
Are there any records or accomplishments you're especially proud of as a runner or walker?
(A) My fastest 1500 = 5:32!, I dont think i could rollar blade a mile in that time now a days, but it is fun to remember! As a marathoner, understanding that the best training could be ruined by waking up on the wrong side of the bed, but knowing to just take it as it comes and live in the moment!
Have you ever run any ultras (50K or more)? Any interest in doing so?
(A) I can be talked into anythin |
