We are seeking a creative individual to serve as managing editor of the new RRCA on-line publication, FOOTNOTES. The managing editor will work closely with the RRCA executive director to develop 4 issues a year consisting of 16 to 32 pages of content and advertising. (The first issue for 2006 is nearly completed.) The managing editor will help with content development, recruiting feature writers, ad sales, and reviewing unsolicited submissions. In addition, the managing editor will help with the collection of photographs and images for use in the publication. The position will be an independent contractor receiving a flat rate fee per issue. The fee will be based on level of experience and expertise in developing a web-based PDF magazine with a maximum fee of $2000 per issue. The ideal candidate will have experience with reviewing and editing articles, experience with MS Publisher or similar, willing to work under the direction of the ED to establish themes, consistent design, and layout of the on-line publication. Candidates should also have experience with distance running and be a member of an RRCA club or an individual member of the RRCA.
