Recently I found out that there was a walker in me; though he'd kept a low profile through the years
I'd run with the Reston Runners for ten great years but, now I had to change gears
An old disc problem in my back had returned and the doctors said I should avoid the impact of the run
So walking is what I've been doing for a few weeks now and, I'm finding that it's really lots of fun
The weekly workouts are staying at around twenty miles; which I do at a fourteen minute a mile pace
And I can't believe the new muscle groups that are getting a workout and, the new aches all over the place
The heart rate monitor confirms that I'm getting an aerobic workout and, my scales say I've had some weight loss too
So like me, enjoy your running as long as you can; then turn loose the walker within you
