Broken Parts Club
John K Nusbaum
06-29-07

Its mid-year for our running club and, speaking medically it's most routine
However, there's been a few exceptions along the way, with bad luck quite unseen

Patty made a surprise call on the emergency room, when a tennis game, snapped an Achilles like a twig
Did she forget that we are a running club and, the rewards of other sports may not be so big?

Then Lexie fell on an innocent little bike ride, during which a helmet she did not take
A broken cheekbone was the result of this indiscretion; a repeat she'll never make

Well, lightning did it's thing a few weeks later, when on his bike Jon took a spill
A few days in Reston Hospital with a broken hip, was his reward, compliments of the Jerry Robinson Shortcut hill

Now to the average Joe this may sound like a curse and, we had better change our ways
But, the joy of our active lives is what we cherish so, we'll put up with a few rainy days
