This morning we met at a lake and Audubon was its name
For a run of fifteen or ten miles, who's counting when they all feel the same?
I think that ninety were on hand, not bad with humidity so high
Joe acknowledged the new faces in the group, then it was time to give running a try
Up Twin Branches the warm up began and the finding of those with a like pace
And the gazelles of the gang were soon way out in front; did they think that this was a race?
My speed was better this morning as I noted Maria's voice from my back
And I followed Al on Coquina when I should have stayed with the pack
The first water stop was a blessing, positioned near the bottom of Glade
Then that really long grade before Freetown, just before we went back to the shade
Two more hills came up quickly, then at Soapstone more water and a break
Then the Glade Nature Trail home stretch, I wondered how long it would take
In a short while I was back at the lake, being greeted by friends soaked with sweat
We stood and talked, while Billy Van and some others, found a much better way to be wet
This run started the week in a nice way and, soon we'll do it again
Runners and walkers just doing our thing and, may be bringing a friend
