I had a most enjoyable Saturday, while biking, with some of my Spokes Folks friends
Would we see Halloween goblins on our way; to the place where the W&OD trail ends?
The morning was cold, when we saddled up; brisk to say the least
Through Sterling, then Ashburn, we kept up the pace, until Herndon, was far to the east
After Partlow's country store, we crossed a tranquil Goose Creek
Here was mostly green foliage; not at all what the leaf peepers seek
Historic Leesburg was beginning its morning bustle, as we peddled into town
But, breakfast was calling, just a ways up the trail, or we'd stopped to look around
In ten more miles we reached the town of Purcellville, which was also the end of the line
Soon we were settled around a White Palace table, where our meals were very fine
The return trip was a bit warmer and, the day all in all was just great
Our fellowship and fun, carried the day but, those autumn colors would just have to wait
