UPDATE:

YIM Parents,
 
The runners had some great times during the time trials last week. Thanks to all the parents who helped out. 
 
July 31st will be our last regular YIM session at Herndon High School. 
 
The final race is on August 7th at 10:00am at lake Fairfax's large shelter and picnic area. Please take note of the change in time and location from our regular YIM season. 
 
If you haven't picked up this season's T-Shirt for your runner please do so. We have discounted T-Shirts from past seasons in all sizes for $5, Please bring cash or checks if you'd like some. They are all technical T-Shirts.

Dates and Venues for the 2022 Program

Dates:

June 12 – August 7, 2022 (Sundays, 6:30 – 7:30 pm)

The final session on August 7  will be a morning race & party at 10:00 am  at Lake Fairfax Park.
Location: Herndon High School Track (700 Bennett St, Herndon, VA 20170)

We are looking for volunteers to serve as coaches (detail below). To volunteer,  please click HERE.

We are also looking for sponsors to help with funds.

About Our Program

Reston Runners’ Youth In Motion (YIM) program is a non-profit, non-competitive summer youth running/fitness program.

Our mission is to introduce our youth to the joy of running and running-related activities in a fun atmosphere to help them maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.

The program has been recognized in the past as the best youth running program in the country by the RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) and was awarded a grant from the RRCA "Kids Run the Nation" program in 2013. It is comprised of 300+ participants, ages 4-13 years old, and is entirely staffed by volunteers.

  • All participants are divided into age groups: 4-5 year olds, 6-7 year olds, 8-9 year olds, 10-13 year olds (participants must be 4yrs of age by start of session).
  • At the end of the season, we will hold our 5th Annual YIM Race & Party at Lake Fairfax Park!
  • A program gift will be given to each participant.
  • A coach shirt will be given to each volunteer coach. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer as a coach.

No prior training necessary, except… a commitment to attending 7 of the sessions and taking background screening.
