RACING WITH RESTON RUNNERS

Our club has an amazing and diverse range of athletic talent. Many are new club members and are in training for their first 5K or 10K. Others are experienced runners who run competitively and have completed dozens of marathons and ultras. We are unified in our love for the sport and a desire to reach personal goals.

• Reston Runners is making a renewed effort to compete as a team at upcoming road races. We motivate each other through the many good (and bad) miles.  Entering races and competing as a team helps each of us establish running goals--achieve our fastest time, or perhaps run farther than we have before. Racing keeps us motivated and on track (pun intended)! 2026 Cherry Blossom 10 Miler

10 Mile and 5K Race

The participant lottery for the 53rd Annual Credit Union Cherry Blossom (CUCB) 10 Mile and Double Blossom will be held during a 15-day period starting on January 5, 2026 and extending through 11:59 P.M. on January 19, 2026.  All lottery information can be found on the event website at https://cherryblossom.org/pre-race/entry-info/lottery-entry. Lottery results will be announced by January 22, 2026. 

Registration for the 5K, presented by ASICS, will open on January 26, 2026 and will be on a first-come, first-served basis until the entry limit is reached. The 2025 race took about three weeks to fill up. NOTE: This year the 5K will be held on a new course in Arlington, VA, conveniently located near the race headquarters hotel at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. The course will return to the Freedom Plaza and Pennsylvania Ave. course in 2027.

South Lakes High School

A great race to add to your 2026 calendar and motivation to keep to their fitness resolutions. An early February 1st race day will be a good test for everyone of all ages. All runners receive a great long-sleeve shirt, race bib, post-race snacks, free race day photos, and a digital finisher certificate! Awards given to top 3 overall male and female finishers, and awards to top 3 male and female age group finishers.

Another great community race in Reston with the start and finish line at South Lakes High School. Great race swag -- full-zip jacket, and unique finisher medal. Also, awards for top 3 male and female overall and top 3 age group finishers. All net proceeds benefit the South Lakes High School Track & Field and Cross-Country programs. The Race Course is on many familiar (and hilly) Reston roads--South Lakes Drive, Twin Branches, Glade, Soapstone, and Sunrise Valley Drive.

RUN THRU RESTON HALF MARATHON & 5K 2025

Reston Runners will host the 13th annual RTR -- 7:30 AM at South Lakes High School on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

The half marathon race course includes some rolling hills on beautiful, paved trails. The course will be well marked and lined with friendly and supportive volunteers to boost your spirits along the way. The 5K race is perfect for walkers and families who are there to support their half marathon runner.
