RACING WITH RESTON RUNNERS

Our club has an amazing and diverse range of athletic talent. Many are new club members and are in training for their first 5K or 10K. Others are experienced runners who run competitively and have completed dozens of marathons and ultramarathons. We are unified in our love for the sport and a desire to reach personal goals.

Reston Runners is making a renewed effort to compete as a team at upcoming road races. We motivate each other through the many good (and bad) miles.  Entering races and competing as a team helps each of us establish running goals--achieve our fastest time, or perhaps run farther than we have before. Racing keeps us motivated and on track (pun intended)! And, we always look forward to a post-race celebration!

Contact info@restonrunners.org if you are interested in joining our team for any race!

RACE REPORTS

There are many incredible racing experiences written by our members. If you would like to share a race report, please pass it onto us at info@restonrunners.com. All of us benefit from your experiences and running insight!

2025 Cherry Blossom 10-Miler & 5K

Washington, DC -- Saturday, April 5, 2025 and Sunday, April 6, 2025

Cherry Blossom 10 Mile & 5K

The Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run is an annual 10-mile (16 km) race that starts on the Washington Monument grounds in Washington, DC. Founded in 1973 originally as a precursor training run for elite runners planning to compete in the Boston Marathon, the race has evolved into one of the premier races on the east coast for runners of all abilities. In recent years, there have been over 20,000 runners. The fields for the 2025 In-Person 10 Mile, and for those wishing to do the “Double Blossom” (run the 5K on Saturday, April 5 and the 10 Mile on Sunday, April 6), will be determined by Lottery. The lottery will be held from December 1 – December 15. Lottery results will be posted by December 19. Note that there will not be a lottery for those who wish to run only the 5K – registration for the 5K will open on December 20 and will stay open on a first-come, first-served basis until February 29, 2024, or until the field limit of 5,000 is reached, whichever comes first.
